Where to find us

Edinburgh & Pennan

The immersion runs in two places. Pennan (2–4 October, 16 hours) meets in the village hall above the harbour on the Aberdeenshire coast. Edinburgh runs as five Friday evenings, 6–9pm, from 23 October — three hours a week, totalling 15 hours — alongside our weekly classes. One-to-one and group classes take place in both our Edinburgh studio and the Pennan hall.

White cottages along the stone harbour at Pennan beneath coastal cliffs

Pennan

Coastal hall — immersion weekend, 2 – 4 October

A small stone hall above the harbour on the Moray Firth coast, with the sea on one side and cliffs on the other. This is where the first immersion weekend is held, from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 October 2026. The hall is also the Pennan base for our one-to-one and group classes when the coast is quiet. Please note no accommodation is provided for the immersion weekend — see the guidance below on staying nearby.

Parking

There is a free public car park at the top of the brae, above the village. Parking within the village itself is extremely limited and the descent is steep and single-track — we strongly recommend leaving your car at the top and walking down (about five minutes on foot, steep in places). Car sharing is encouraged and we are happy to help coordinate lifts between participants.

Getting here

By car from Edinburgh
Roughly three hours via the A90 to Aberdeen, then the A90/A98 towards Fraserburgh and the B9031 coastal road. Allow extra time in winter.
By car from Aberdeen
About one hour and fifteen minutes north via the A90 and B9031.
By public transport
Train to Aberdeen, then the Stagecoach 273 towards Fraserburgh and Macduff, alighting at New Aberdour or Pennan Road End. Services are infrequent — please check timetables carefully and tell us your arrival time so we can arrange a lift for the final stretch.
Cullykhan Cove sauna
The weekend closes with a one-hour session in the wood-fired barrel sauna at Cullykhan Cove, around ten minutes from the hall by car. Swimwear and a towel needed; sea dipping optional but recommended.
Staying nearby
No accommodation is included. The Pennan Inn is in the village itself; there are B&Bs and self-catering cottages in Gardenstown, New Aberdour and Fraserburgh, all within a twenty-minute drive. Book early — options are limited.
