2 – 4 October 2026
The full weekend schedule
Sixteen contact hours across three days. Pennan runs Friday to Sunday (2 – 4 October 2026). Timings are held gently — we will not rush a practice to meet a clock. The Cullykhan Cove sauna ending is Pennan-specific.
After your practice, take a moment to relax and reconnect over a restorative herbal infusion, lovingly prepared with fresh, locally grown and picked herbs.

Evening — Arriving & Settling
- Break
Arrival, tea and welcome circle
Registration, mat set-up and a short round of introductions over herbal tea.
- Philosophy
Foundations of Hatha philosophy
Ha and tha — sun and moon. Where Hatha sits within the wider yoga tradition and what the classical texts actually ask of a practitioner.
- Asana
Grounding asana practice
A slow, warming sequence to release the travelling body — standing poses, gentle spinal work and mindful forward folds, creating space to soften, settle and reconnect.
- Pranayama
Introductory pranayama
Diaphragmatic breathing and equal-ratio breath (sama vritti) as a settling practice.
- Meditation
Yoga nidra and closing
Guided rotation of consciousness to end the first evening in deep rest.
Saturday
3 October 2026
Full Day — The Heart of the Immersion
- Pranayama
Morning pranayama and kriya
Kapalabhati and nadi shodhana on an empty stomach, with careful contraindication guidance.
- Asana
Full asana practice
The classical Hatha sequence in depth — surya namaskar variations, standing and balancing poses, backbends and inversions with props.
- Break
Breakfast break
Shared vegetarian breakfast. Bring-and-share welcome; tea and coffee provided.
- Philosophy
Philosophy: the eight limbs in practice
Patanjali's ashtanga and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika side by side. Yama and niyama as lived ethics, not abstractions.
- Asana
Alignment lab and self-enquiry
Small-group work on individual patterns — hips, shoulders, breath restriction — with hands-on and verbal adjustment.
- Break
Lunch and rest
A long, unhurried midday pause. Walk, nap or sit quietly.
- Pranayama
Pranayama in depth
Ujjayi, bhramari and introduction to kumbhaka (retention), plus the bandhas that support them safely.
- Asana
Restorative asana
Long supported holds with bolsters and blankets, five to eight minutes per shape. Bolsters, blocks, and folded blankets support the body completely so muscles do not strain. The goal is total surrender and ease rather than stretching or building strength.
- Sound Healing
Sound healing journey
An extended immersion in Himalayan singing bowls, gong and chime, received lying down in full support.
Sunday
4 October 2026
Morning — Integration & Return
- Meditation
Silent sitting
Held silence with light guidance — breath awareness, then open awareness.
- Asana
Integrative asana practice
Bringing the weekend's threads together in one complete, self-paced practice.
- Break
Tea break
Short pause before the final sessions.
- Pranayama
Pranayama and meditation pairing
Building a sustainable ten-minute daily practice you can actually keep.
- Philosophy
Philosophy: taking it home
Svadhyaya and abhyasa — how a weekend becomes a practice. Q&A and personal planning.
- Sound Healing
Closing sound bath and circle
A short bowl immersion, closing words and dedication.
- Sauna
Cullykhan Cove sauna session — the weekend's ending
One hour in the wood-fired barrel sauna at Cullykhan Cove, a few minutes' drive from the hall — heat, sea air and the cliffs of the Moray Firth to close the weekend. Optional and included in the weekend; bring swimwear and a towel. A dip in the sea between rounds is very much encouraged.

The ending
Cullykhan Cove sauna
The weekend closes with a one-hour session in the wood-fired barrel sauna at Cullykhan Cove — a curve of sand and shingle a few minutes from the hall, with the sea at your feet. Heat, cold water and quiet company to seal in three days of practice. Included in the weekend; bring swimwear and a towel.
Ready to join us?
Places are limited to ten participants so that everyone receives individual attention. Bookings for both immersions are now closed — the Pennan weekend (2–4 October) and the Edinburgh course (Fridays from 23 October) are fully booked. Send an enquiry and we will let you know about future dates.
